My line : 1.James Rowe b. ca 1759 d. ca 1823---married Keziah Russell and Anna / Annie Howard--(married 1794 in Onslow )----Onslow co.,NC 2.Christopher Howard Rowe b. 1811 married Mary Ann Gilman (Duplin co.,NC ) and Susan Margaret Murray 3.John W. Rowe b. 1840 married Martha Elizabeth Blake (Pender Co.,NC ) 4.Zedock Pinkney Rowe married Carrie Belle Bowden 5.John Douglas Rowe born 1911 married Sarah Frances Malpass 6.Carrie Belle Rowe----1943----(me) Family history says my James Rowe, b. 1759, had a son named Jesse who was a noted or gifted whistler. I'm thinking that Jessie could be the one in Ohio because I found an article saying Jesse had exceptional lung power. Most likely a cousin rather than a son of James. My family was thought to have come from the Roanoke River area, so that's another reason I suspect he belongs to the VA-OH Rowes. Saw online posts that say James of Ohio went south. My James Rowe served in rev war, at Monmouth and Stony Point. (Played the fife ) He enlisted at New Bern and at Wilmington NC. He was captured at Charlestown and escaped. His pension request names his children as Mary Polly (1801 ), James Henry (1809) , and Christopher Howard Rowe ( 1811). Mary Polly Rowe ( 1801) married William McDaniel , went to Twigg co.,Ga , taking family records with her. I think she ended up in Columbia, Ark. James Henry Rowe (1909) married Rebecca Shelfer and Rebecca Knowles, went to Ala. , Ga. Christopher Howard Rowe ( 1811) stayed in NC---- Need info on James, Jesse Rowe, Keziah Russell, Anna Howard. There are so many Rowes that I never see mentioned online. There was Christopher ,James, and Henry Rowe in Onslow co.,NC. . Christopher had a daughter Mary who married Hezekiah Jones. There were Rowes in Pasquotank co.,NC.. There was a James ,John and Benjamin Rowe in New Hanover co.,NC. (Pender co. used to be part of New Hanover Co. ) Thanks, Carrie Belle Rowe Burgaw,Pender co.,NC Notify Administrator about this message?
