The Fort Wayne Weekly Sentinel Dec 13, 1916 FOUR KILLED WHEN CAR HITS AN AUTO ----------------------- Fort Wayne and Northwestern Freight Crashes Into Machine at Butler Center. Garret, Ind., Dec 13.-- Three persons were killed instantly and the fourth died soon afterward as the result of an interurban freight car on the Fort Wayne and Northwestern company crashing into an automobile driven by Warren Rowe, at the Butler Center crossing, three miles south of here, late Monday afternoon. The dead are: Warren Rowe, Art; Mrs. John Rowe and daughter, Blanche, Green Center, and Miss Helen Rowe, daughter of William Rowe, Butler Center. The automobile party was leaving the home of William Rowe, who lives near Butler Center. The interurban freight car was following closely after the passenger car. The passenger car had passed when the automobile started over the crossing and was struck squarely by the car. The automobile was a total wreck. The view of those in the machine was obstructed by the curtains on the automobile and together with the unexpected approach of the freight care caused the fatal accident. The freight car stopped and the crew rendered whatever assistance could be given. Mrs. William Rowe, an invalid, witnessed the accident from her window. Notify Administrator about this message?
