I'm familiar with your family, but have not connected it to my family yet. There was a James Rowe in New Hanover co very early and I suspect he was related to John and James who came along later.
I'm looking at several possibilities for my James Rowe, born ca 1759. (1) Mass. Rowe married into the Larkins family of New Hanover co.,NC, and settled in NC. Did more of those Mass. Rowes move south ? There was a Gaius Rowe in Mass and in Onslow, NC (2) The Jesse Rowe family of Louisa,Va., did some of that family end up in NC ? (3) The William Rowe / Brough family of Norfolk co.,VA,,Craven co and Beaufort co.,NC. (4) The Pasquotank co. Rowes, with Valentine, Coleman, etc. (5) Gloucester co.,VA Rowes (6) There was a Christopher and James in Onslow and Craven co very early. James wrote a will ca 1737 in Craven co.. Christopher had a daughter Mary who married Hezekiah Jones. Whe were the other children ? Christopher might be of the Pasquotank Rowes.
So you can see I have more questions than answers. My family has ties to the New Hanover co. Rowes so I am researching your family too. I'll pass along any info I have .
