I am a Davidson, but I note that there are three men with the surname of "Rowland," and one man with the surname of "Roland," whose first 12 DNA markers are an exact match to my first 12 DNA markers....and we all have the haplogroup of "I" (typically shown as indicating a "Viking heritage"). I am in "Family 10" at www.davidsongenes.org.
It seems that most (if not all) of these men requested just the 12 marker DNA test, so they would need to upgrade to at least 37 markers to see if there is truly a "close match" to the me and the other members/donors in DNA "Family 10." I wrote an e-mail to one of the above men, but so far, I have not received a reply. I intend to write to the other donors, as well, but one of them has his information listed as "private" (so I will not be able to contact him).
Does anyone know of any male DNA donors with the Rowland/Roland surname whose haplogroup is "I?" In what part of the USA did the ancestors of those donors live? The early members of my Davidson family in DNA "Family 10" were in Virginia.
Note: DNA "Family 10" also has three members whose surname is "Bishop." So far, we do not know the "who/when/where" of the apparent "non-paternity event" between that Bishop family and my Davidson family. Thanks!
