As of yesterday August 12, 2009 five participants whose ancestor came to America are a match. We now know that dispite the many Rountree stories and how these five ancestors arrived in America, we all share a common ancestor.

James Vandiver Jones is a Roundtree by any spelling. If anyone has information
that would help his descendants please contact me and I will get you in touch
with each other. It is believed that this mismatch in markers occured about 1800
but can't be certain.

+ John S Rowntree b c1830 Spartenburg SC m Emily Francis Lanford

NOTE: This ancestor matches the lines of Charles Rountree b. 1680 and John Rountree b. 1798 on all 37 markers.
We have another line who has tested with 37/37 markers matching. I do not have access to the ancestral line at this time but hope to have it soon. It is said that this is a line of Richardson Roundtree.
************************************************************************
FACTS IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
There is a sixth participant whose line is of Yorkshire England who is not a match...not even a close one. He matches 30 markers of 37 markers. If tested on 67 markers he would undoubtbly still be unmatched with the rest.
Of course this was very disappointing to a number of Rountree's who have believed that they they were from this line.
Perhaps with further testing on new members we can find other matches for John Rowntree b. 1680 in Yorkshire England.
That line is as follows:
Unassigned Group:
John Rowntree b c1680 Yorkshire, England d 1741 Yorkshire, England m Ann Marton -
+ Robert Rowntree b 1722 Yorkshire, England d c1789 m Mary Halliday
+ Robert Rowntree b 1754 Yorkshire, England m Ann Wood
+ William Rowntree b 1792 Yorkshire, England m Elizabeth Bowman
+ John Rowntree b 1824 Yorkshire, England m Sarah Horn
+ William G. Rowntree b 1850 London, England m Anne J. Kirkby

PS The above ancestral information is from members of the study and is not my work. I have an extensive file on the family of Charles Roundtree b. 1680 Ireland (perhaps England) if you should require information for that line.
