I am helping my boyfriend's mother research her family. Her name is Susan (Rubalcava) Day. Her father, Alfred Saveno Rubalcava, was born 30 Dec 1905 in Cuquio, Jalisco, Mexico. Alfred passed away in 1992. Alfred talked little about his family, so we know very little. Alfred's father was Basilio Rubalcava and his mother was Rosa Peres (Peris/Perez). After Rosa passed away, Basilio married Maria Perez, possibly Rosa's sister, and had at least one child, Margarito. Alfred said that Basilio was a baker in Jalisco and used to take Alfred with him on business trips to Texas when Alfred was a child. Alfred ran away to Texas around 1922 when he was about 18.
I also know (according to Margarito's son, Ruben) that Basilio had a brother, Ursulo/Urselo who moved to northern California and started a restaurant and bakery. I believe that this is your great grandfather? I have located a death record for Ursulo that says that his mother's maiden name was Vargas. In addition, Ruben says that Basilio and Ursulo's father was Jose Rubalcava. I have also located some christening records from Jalisco for a Basilio and an Ursulo Rubalcava that indicate that each were christened at San Miguel Arcangel, Yahaulica, Jalisco in 1872 and 1875, respectively, and their parents were Jose Rubalcava and Antonia Vargas.
According you your message, I think you and Suzie are related. We would love to connect and share information!
