Rudkin is a Saxon name and they came over about 1066 and settled in the Rutland area. Many moved to the Leicester area and at one time there were forty members of the Rudkin family working in a slate quarry in Newtown Lindford, Leicestershire. One Rudkin went over with Cromwell and stayed in Ireland and consequently there is a branch there. I have researched my husbands branch back to 1610.
