I have just started to trace by husbands family, who were mainly living in and around Crondal & Crookham in the late 1800's. I have come accross a few James Ruffles, but unfortunately with different dates. You might like to try a Peter Ruffle who is the lead for all Ruffles in Hampshire, here is the relevant website:
