Hello Brian,
My grand father was James (Jimmy) Alfred Ruffle. He was born in Marden or Horsmonden, Kent. His Marriage Certificate indicates he was born about 1887. His father was James Ruffle and his mother was Emily Newman. He came to Canada about 1910 and married Ida France in Bull River, British Columbia in 1915. My father was born there.

I believe Jimmy came from a large family and his father was James Ruffle born in Crondall about 1847. His mother was Emily. My dad can't recall his father, Jimmy, talking about the family. I think Jimmy was the black sheep in the family.

I went to Horsmonden in 1980 and saw the house the family lived in. I recall meeting some distant relatives who recalled that Jimmy had a brother Charlie, which had recently died. They said there were 13 siblings but I think they must of included some cousins(?).

Thats about all I know. Have you been able to trace back any further?
