I married into the "Ruger" family. But the story is this: My husbands great grandfather (or something like that) came over from Italy to the US, but at that point and time, they were not allowing italinas to immigrate into the US. So he shortened his name to "Ruger" to sound German, which was acceptable. The family is still known as the Rugers..... but history knows them as the Ruggerio's.
