Carol, Thanks for your info. Here is what I have.My 3rd great grandfather was Daniel A. Rumburg b.1835 in Giles Co. VA.-not far from Montgomery. He had a brother Wm Silas b.1833 and a sister-unknown.When they were children, they moved to Ohio-exact local unknown, until 1865 when they moved to Iron Co. MO.-stayed there 3 years then moved to Eminence,MO. in Shannon Co.Wm Silas married Emily __?while in Ohio, she was b.1835 and they had 11 children. Wm Silas became a judge of the county court from 1880-1884.His death occured due to an awful wagon accident that caused severe head injuries and died 5-30-1891.His wife Emily died 4-6-1918,and they are both buried at the Rumburg cemetery-about 14 miles E. of Eminence,MO.
Daniel-my 3rd great grandfather, married Amanda__? while also in Ohio. She was b.1843. Daniel and Amanda had 3 daughters and 1 son -James M. b.1856. He worked as a farmer in Shannon Co. I dont know as much detail about him, and I have no death dates or burial as of yet. Thier son James M. married Nancy J.Castile abt 1880. They had one child- James Edward b.1881,Nancy had a daughter by a Annie by a prior man unknown. James Edward married Rosa Campbell 11-30-1902. Rosa was b.1-1-1879. They had 3 children,Cecil,Clara, and Anna Irene-my grandmother b.4-21-1908. James Edward died 3-17-1953 in Annapolis, MO. of mouth cancer.Rosa died 1-21-1980,at the age of 101.They are both buried side by side at Annapolis, MO.
Anna Irene Rumburg married Albert Francis 12-16-1922, they had 11 children. Anna died 5-1-1958 of a massive stroke. She is buried by her parents at Annapolis, MO.
Cecil Rumburg was b.9-7-1905 and married twice. He died 6-29-1905,and is buried by his parents also.
I have no info. on Clara other than she is buried at the Mann cemetery in Reynolds Co. MO. You can find Wm Silas and Daniel Rumburg on the 1870 & 1880 census for Shannon Co, MO.-its Current River Township then Eminence Township. I lost track of Daniel & Amanda and thier son JamesM. Rumburg & Nancy J.,but thier son James Edward shows back up in Annapolis,Iron Co. MO.
I'm sorry that I do not have the names of Wm Silas & Daniels Parents, Its probably in records but I haven't gotten that far yet. I remember Uncle Cecil himself tell me his family was from Germany, and they lived in Virginia after coming here to the U.S. Another family member told me they thought they remembered that the name of the town in Germany started with a -solin- sound, and that the town was known for thier knives - I'm not sure if that means manufacturing of what. It seems all the Rumburg-Rumbergs that I've been able to even find has all come from Virginia. There is not a whole lot of them out there to be found, and when you do they are almost all located near each other. Let me know if any of this info. is helpful, and if you find out anything new, will you let me know also?
Thanks...Pamela
