Hello Cousin Bill,
Your Grandfather was my mother's brother.I can remember only good times with my Uncle Guy and Aunt Do.
Actually Bill, your Grandfather was born in Oceana County. His father, my Grandfather Samuel Peter :Sam" Rumohr and his mother, Eliza Molton/Malton met while Sam was a hired hand for one of Eliza's Step-Uncles where Eliza happened to be living at the time. You can find them in the 1880 census of Oceana County.
I have many many pictures of the family from my Mom and I also inherited all of the family pictures that Cousin Ethyl Rumohr had when she died. She was the daughter of Sam's son Peter Glen - Uncle Pete.
Samuel Rumohr's youngest brother, Rev. Melvin Rumohr, left a short family genealogy letter in the family Bible which is now in the custody of Ben and Marlene Rumohr Kautz.I started with that and have a very complete of the Rumohr family going back to the original immigrant family - Marcus and Maria Rumohr and their son, Johann Hans Rumohr. They were part of the original community of Markham.
I think that I was only four years old when I can remember your folks. They came to my eldest sister's wedding and I have a picture of them there at Blanchard, Michigan where my father pastored a church.
Would like to hear from you - use: [email protected]
Your Cousin,
Jack Jeffries
