John, The Rumple name is German.Originally spelled Rumpel. I was aware of the Rumples in Grant Co, Gas City etc but have not yet gotten into researching them as my concentration to this point has been the early history of the Rumple line. I do believe I have in my files a letter from one of the Rumples of Allen/Adams county IN that states some of their line went to Grant Co.Will see if I can find same. The Adams Co Rumples are from the line of Daniel Rumple of Butler Co OH.Daniel was bn in Northampton Co. PA moved to Rowan Co. NC in the late 1700s and then relocated to Butler Co. OH in 1815.His line goes back to Johannes Rumpel who landed in Philadelphia on 17 Oct 1749.If you wish more info write me at [email protected] Rumple NC.
