Runk-McCartney-Washington. Co., Pa
I am researching the family of Robert and Lydia McCartney, my earliest ancestors who were recorded in Washington Co., Pa. around 1800. Although I do not know for sure, I suspect Lydia's maiden name may have been Runk as two of the children (Isaac and Jacob) had middle initials of R for "Runk".
I realize that my suspicions about this Runk connection might a longshot at best but I have reached a dead end and it is interesting that they have this name as middle names since McCartney is scottish or scots-irish.
This McCartney family's connection to Washington Co., Pa. is also very vague as this location is referred to a 1850 census in Cardington Co., Ohio, a location that they moved to sometime around in the early 1830's.It is determined that all 8 McCartney children (6 boys & 2 girls)were supposedly born in Washington Co. between 1814 and 1829.
Please advise if anyone knows of this possible connection.
