Hi Elaine;

I am trying to research the Rupley family in Indiana and Michigan and I found your posting (about Erhart) very interesting. My husband's great-grandfather was an A L Rupley born in 1898. The history is sketchy before this, and the only other 'Rupley' in our area was an Elizabeth Rupley that was christined in 1856. Could it be that your Elizabeth Miller, wife of Erhart, is erroneously listed as George Washington Rupley's daughter instead of as his daughter in law? GW Rupley came from PA, Cumberland and I think I can trace him back to Johan Jacob Rupley. Elizabeth married a person named 'Cauffman' from Indiana in 1876 (ironically, about when Elizabeth Miller Rupley would have been widowed. This would explain a gap from my side.

Do you know anyhting about the Indiana Rupley's before 1900?

Thanks Carol Rupley
