I'm looking for information on parents and/or siblings of Samuel Lewis Bear (b 24 Oct 1825 in Cumberland Co., PA, d 6 Apr 1864 in CA). He married Mary Rupley (b1828 in PA, d1906 in IA). Family tradition has it that they married 9 Jan 1849 in Hampton, Cumberland Co., PA.

They settled first in Peoria, IL, where the following children were born:
Adessa Jane (1849-1940)
Mary Agnes (1851-1932)
Crastus Alpheus (1852)
Susan Rosabella (1853)
Allen (1855)

Then continued to Plano, Iowa where these children were born:
Catherine Elizabeth (1858-1938)
John (1859)
Abraham Lincoln (1860-1930)

They moved to California for the gold rush (where Samuel died) and had one last child:
George Benecia (1864-1935)

Mary moved back to Iowa (arriving by boat at Carlisle, PA), married Josiah Bowman, had a child Ida Bowman, then divorced after 3 years. I have collected quite a bit on the children of Samuel and Mary (all with sources recorded), but know nothing about either of their parents. I have searched all databases on I just ordered her death certificate from the Iowa State Archives and it will take 60 days. Maybe I will know more then, but thought I'd take a chance and ask here while I wait. I am happy to swap information.
