William A, Rupley
William A, Rupley, 79, of Camino, died Nov. 23, He was born. May 12, 1924 in the Placerville Sanatorium.
One of El Dorado County’s oldest pioneer families lost an important member on Sunday, Nov. 23. Mr. Rupley had just arrived at his favorite woodcutting location when he suffered a massive heart attack. He was with his son, Jon. As they were preparing to work, Mr. Rupley leaned over and fell unconscious. Jon performed CPR while he waited for the help he summoned on his cell phone.
MR. Ruple was the youngest son of Charles Joseph and Clara Willanna Rupley. He lived and worked in this county most of his life, except for schooling and military service during WWII. He served in the Naval Aviation and state service in the Napa Valley for 13 years. Always a leader and was a hard worker, he was the of many originations beginning with class president and student body president El Dorado County High School. Mr. Rupley, was an executive partner run Rupley Brothers, a family business with father and brothers operating primarily in the logging and hauling business.
During World War II, he married LaMarr Davidson and together they raised their family of four children in the Camino area.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, LaMarr Rupley; his sons, Michael Earl, Jon Carlos and Willie; his daughter, Wendy Willanna Wynant; eight grandchildren; two great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews; his sister, Phyllis Rupley-Snyder.
A memorial service is being planned for Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Veterans Memorial Building in Placerville. All friends are invited to attend the celebration of his life and share their memories of Mr. Rupley.
