Seeking information about Jacob Rupp [51] who was listed in the 1860 Lancaster Co PA census along with wife Regina [54]and children Sebastian 25, Elizabeth 18, Mary 16, Kate 15, William 13, George 8, and John 1. All were born in Wurtenburg, Germany except John who was born in PA. Jacob is listed as a Brushmaker. In 1870, Jacob [58] brushmaker, Catherine [51] and John [11] are listed. Did his first wife die? Or lied about her name and age? Where are Jacob and Regina buried?
My great-greatgrandfather is named William John Rope b. 1844 or 1848 in Germany. Family history says that he came to America when he was ~10 years old. In the 1880 census William, his wife Anna Sundy Rope, and children are living in Centre Twp, Perry Co PA. Sometime between the census and 1883 when his daughter Martha was born in Wooster Ohio, he moved his family to Wooster Ohio where he died in 1908.
I’m trying to determine whether or not Jacob Rupp is William John Rope’s father. Have much information to share about the Ropes in Wayne County, Ohio. Any help that you can provide about the Rupp’s in PA will be greatly appreciated. I live in Texas which makes the search even more difficult.
