RUSSELL JACOB RUPP, 85, of Westbrook, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Westbrook Good Samaritan Home.
Born Oct. 7, 1920, on Rosehill Farm in Rosehill Township, south of Westbrook, he was the son of Jac. K. and Amelia Ewy Rupp. He married Eunice Haas on Oct. 4, 1946, at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook.
He received his education through country school, District 48, in Rosehill Township, and later Westbrook High School. After marriage, they lived on the Rupp family’s Century Farm for 38 years. In 1984, they moved to Westbrook, and he continued to farm for several years with his son. He became a resident of Westbrook Good Samaritan Home in February. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook, where he served as a trustee and past chairman of the congregation. He was a member of Westbrook Kiwanis Club, Heritage Museum and Westbrook Senior Center. He served on the Westbrook Elevator Board as an officer, and was a school board member for District 48. He coached the Rosehill Sunshine 4-H club softball team. At the county level, he was a member of the Cottonwood County Cattlemen’s Association, the Walking Water Conservation Board, and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Murl (Mary) Rupp, Westbrook; two daughters, Elaine (Ronald) Harder, Jackson, and Cecile (Roger) Teerink, Worthington; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Almlie Funeral Home, Westbrook, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook, with the Rev. Roy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Mennonite Cemetery, Westbrook.
