I would say that your ancestor changed his surname when he was naturalized citizen. Was he naturalized citizen?
FOSTY ? I sure would not say it is a Slavic surname ei. Russian.
Wasil/Wasyl/Vasil/Vasily/Vasiliy - one and the same first name different languages.
Seems that Anany is a good first name being that 53 do show up in EI www.ellisislandrecords.org
Possible that DIMITROFF could be his "old country" surname. Further research in locating few more documents.
