Hi Evgenia, a quick question:

The surname i'm looking for from Bessarabia is actually FOSTY...the name "Vasiliy Dimitroff" is listed as my ancestor's father's name, while his own name is listed as Anany Fosty. In later papers, he referred to his father as "Wasil Fosty". My question is, is there a Russian surname that would sound similar to what "Fosty" sounds like in English? It seems to be such a NON-Slavic surname...i'm wondering if it was somehow anglicized and spelled how it sounded. Any ideas?
