Hello, Susan! The problem that you didn't fien the name Moraleff indatebases is in fact that in Russian this name sounds like Moralev (Моралев). I looked for some info in russian web search sites and found a link for memorial book of Kazan guberny of 1916(guberny was something like state in US before 1917) http://surname.litera-ru.ru/list.asp?N=131160 where Moralev N is a second from the top. This memorial book includes anme of most importand people of this region.
Anyway Moralev is not rare surname here in Russia nowadays now. maybe some of them are your relatieves. :-)
