Not easy to unravel this puzzle now an Austria being throw into the pot.
MEDEYSKI I would hear it as MEDEJSKI, if there was such a surname. MADEJSKI shows up in Poland.
No Nagart but NAGOT; no Pobal but POBOL in Poland. We still are no place near to unraveling the location or the original spelling of the ancestral surname.

Were you able to locate Wlodimer Medeyski's church baptismal? Wonder if their first names Wlodimer, Nicholas and Naske pointing toward Poland/Russia. ?
