Arthur Lucas Ryan--Missing Since 1906
We're trying to solve a 92 year old family mystery.Arthur Lucas Ryan was my great grandfather. He was born in Nodaway County, Missouri in March 1872.He married Grace Hulburt in Perry, Oklahoma in 1897, and for the next nine years the family moved back and
forth a few times between Perry and Butler County, Kansas. Arthur traveled a lot in his efforts to be successful as a salesman. He was gone for months at a time.In 1904, he left home and apparently never went back.He continued to write home until 1906.In June 1906, he worked for the Armstrong Piano Company in Sherman, Texas. In a letter home on October 1, 1906, he was apparently in Athens, Texas, on his way to "E. Texas"to look for work.He said he'd write again in a few days, but was never heard from again. We have two main theories:1) he died within a few days of October 1, 1906 either in transit or shortly after arriving at his destination, 2) he lived for a time after that date and perhaps married again and had another family.
Theory 2 is why I post this message here. It's a long shot, but I hope that some of this might sound familiar to someone.
