Hi Pat
Rylands in Liverpool are an important part of my tree. However mine all appear to be in the Toxteth/ Edge Hill area. The 1851 census index produced by the Liverpool and SW Lancs FHS show a number of Rylands in the Woolton area. I wonder if this Edward & family are yours-
              Age       Occupation       Place of Birth
Christopher       2                     Little Woolton
Edward              7       scholar        Little Woolton
James              5       scholar              Little Woolton
James              45       Ag Lab        Little Woolton
Margaret       6       Scholar        Little Woolton
Margaret       38                     Torbock
Last one is probably Tubrook. ( I think this is the correct spelling)
BTW the index only shows 2 Edward Rylands, the other being an adult butcher.
Hope this helps
Paul
