RYLANDS FAMILY figures here in my home town of Westhoughton, Lancashire, England, since around 1200.

I am interested in my Local History and have looked into Rylands family through the ages.....the last of the Rylands...Peter Rylands lived at Westhoughton Hall in Daisy Hill, Westhoughton after the Civil War of the mid 1600's.

The name Rylands is still commemorated by a building which has lately been built as sheltered accommodation and another such building has the name Thurstons in Westhoughton bears the name of a son of William Rylands around 1395.

I find no evidence of the name here in Westhoughton after the mid 1600's although there are Roylance and various names still around.

I would be interested in any info.
This name was very important in this area.
Pam Clarke,
