cindy, i found your request all these years later. we do share the same ancestor - john rylands from pittsburgh, pa. who was married to rosanna abt (irish catholic). my mother's mother was elizabeth rylands, john's daughter. john was born in manchester, england and was disowned by his family for marrying rosanna abt for the reasons you mentioned. i have always thought this is the greatest love story in my family. i have been to their grave site many times and i love seeing their names on the marker. their children, as far as i know are anna marie, joseph, george, william, edward, elizabeth, melissa, clifford and another girl name unknown. i think they had lived in scotland prior to migrating to the U.S. my grandmother (elizabeth) was born in scotland and she was their youngest child. if you are from chicago, your father or grandfather might be edward. he visited my mother in pittsburgh some years ago on his way to england. i did not get to meet him but my mother told me of his visit. if you want birth and death dates i will have my daughter who lives in pittsburgh call and get that information. perhaps she can also get some immigration information. i am 76. it took me a long time getting interested in the internet, but i'm hooked!!! if you're still out there, please write back. rosanna deaunovich
