Hi Kate

I think that James Rylands is from Northern Ireland. My only reason for thinking this is that my great-grandmother was a member of the orange lodge in Liverpool. I always imagined that this would have been because her father (William Rylands) was and possibly her grandfather(James Rylands). Londonderry has been mentioned in my family, but i've been unable to take this any further.

I cannot find any trace of hime in the 1841, 1851 or 1861 census - whether this is due to a transcription error or something else I don't know.

I have info of Louisa Shipley's family going back to 1773ish. You can see what I have on the worldconnect website.
