Dear Pauline Good to hear from you, thanks for making contact! Yes, indeed, on the 1891 census, he is age 31, Sergeant R Marines, with his wife Mary and children, at 6 Alexandra Road, Forton, Alverstoke, and his place of birth is given as Bath, Somerset! I understand that his birth was registered in the June quarter of 1860 in Bath. I may be following the wrong Mr Ryman entirely, but he intrigues me! It was intriguing, too, to see your surname, the reason for which you will see from the following:- My great-grandfather was Joseph HARRISON; his father was William HARRISON, born in Plymouth, Devon, 1816, who married Priscilla CORIN in Parish Church, Madron, Penzance, Cornwall,1838. Priscilla was born in Penzance, Cornwall 1819. Priscilla died 1860 in Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire, at 41 years of age William married Sarah Elizabeth JACKSON in Register Officer, Alverstoke, County of Southampton, 6 November 1865. Witnesses were William Page and Ann Page. Residence at time of marriage: Mill Lane, Forton, near Gosport. Sarah was born about 1819. Her marriage certificate stated she was age 46, spinster, daughter of Thomas Jackson (deceased), a mariner. William died 1888 in 3 Victoria Street, Forton, USD, at 71 years of age. Cause of death: 'Chronic Renal disease 2 years Apoplexy Coma 4 days', his age was 72 years, occupation Pensioner, Royal Marines. The informant, present at the death, was C. Ryman, Grandson (parents as yet unknown!), Florence Cottage, Upper Mill Lane, Elson. Please contact me directly on dean@sp61pp.freeserve.co.uk, and let me know what you think. sincerely, Joy Dean nee Brooks, born in Beckenham, Kent Notify Administrator about this message?
