Hi
My name is Peggy Rhymer Roberts.Have started to research the family name "Rhymer".My father was Jimmie Rhymer, his father was Jesse Rhymer, his father was Henry (Rimer)? Rhymer. His parents were James and Piety Trot Rimer?(Rhymer) who were from Rowan Co. NC.Atleast, I think this is correct. There seems to be 3 or 4 spellings of the Rhymer name.Rimer, Rymer, Riemer, Rimmer, and that is why it is so hard to find them.I know that Piety died in Tippah Co. MS. during the Civil War and that James moved his children to Souther IL, and he returned to Memphis as a blacksmith for the Union Army until the war ended. He then returned to Southern IL. (Union Co) James' brother Jacob was already living in Union Co. Southern IL. He was a blacksmith for the Union Army.Don't know if the David Rymer you mentioned in your message is a distant relative. It has been overwhelming with the same names appearing through the years. It seems that Henry, James, Jesse, and William are mention every generationWould like to hear from you regarding the spelling "Rymer".Would like to know if they are apart of the Rhymer family.Thank you.
Peggy
