I am interested in finding any information on my husbands maternal side of his family.
His Maternal Grandfather Daniel Saastamoinen came to Montana from Northern Finland (not sure of the name but mother-in-law thought is was Sonja??? not sure of the spelling)Mother-in-law is now close to 90 and she has no info on her father other than the stories that she remembers. Her father was born on February 7th. year unknown. His sister was in Montana and he joined her and her family there. His sisters family sponsored his wife "Minna Appoli?" to come with their son Ben to the United States. Daniel and his family moved to Comax, British Columbia. Daniel changed his last name to Sarlund, mother-in-law does not know if this happened in the United States or Canada. Daniel had a brother in Minnesota who was the father of 9 sons (M-I-L does not remember his name either). Had a sister Eda Rissamen who expired from TB along with her only child. Eda and her husband lived in Northwestern Ontario in a small community called Finland, Ontario.
I would appreciated any information.
