I want to supply you with some information that you are seeking regarding Daniel (Taneli) Saastamoine(Sarlund).
Daniel Saastamoinen was born Feb 7 1885 in Heinimaki,Pielavesi,Kuopio Finland and died Apr 30 1962.He was the son of Matti Saastamoinen and Liisa Elisabet Juahiainen Tapinen born25 Jun 1875 Heinimaki,Pielavesi Kuopio Finland and they were married 30 Aug 1874 and died 6 Oct 1890.
Daniel(Taneli) Saastamoinen married Jemanina (Miina) Apuli born 1881 Pielavesi,Kuopio Finland.They had three sons:
Penttti A. Saastamoinen born 1881 Pielavesi Kuopio Finland
Leo V. Saastamoine (Sarland)born 1918 Ladysmith British Columbia.

With referrence to when he changed his name to Sarland ,I have the understanding he changed it after going to British Columbia.TO the best of my knowledge the family still lives in Ladysmith BC Canada.My two aunts living here in Seattle goes up occasionaly to visit them.I will have to find out who the present family are that are still living.
WIth reference to his brother in Minnesota he was my Grandfather Abel Saastamoinen who cam to US in 1905 to US.
My Father Arthur E. Saastamoine was born in Chisholm Minnesota and they later moved to Red Lodge MT.My Granparents had a total of 13 Children only 3 of them are still Alive.
I took over the research of the Saastamoinen Family after my fathers death and at the present time I am still collating informaiton on distant cousins who are living in the US.Please contract me if additional information is neeeded as this is a very brief recap of Daniel Taneli) Saastamoinen ( Sarland).
