This country had alot of open/free land. When people came in and settled there were mainly just wagon rutted roads to their properties. As time went along and the populations increased in areas roads became better maintained and were given names. Many were named by those who were early residents of that area. Some were named for important people in the community or sometimes the area developer (especially in the 20th century). If you truly wish to know why the street got its name, look on the internet until you locate the address for the local county recorder/assessor where the street is located. Send them a letter of inquiry, if they cannot give you a definitive answer ask in your letter that they pass your letter on to the correct department. Be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a return answer to you. While I know this does not give you a solid answer perhaps it helps a little.
