hi, my anchestors have been Sabat (and Sabath) from Czech Republic (Moravia, to be correct). Some 'uncles' went to America about 1850 or before, a part of the family emigrated 1938, to USA, Australia, Mexico...

It would be interesting to share our pedigrees to find out out if there are the same roots.

There seem to be two lines (or more) of Sabats: the jewish one from Czech and Poland, and the christian one of northern germany (and maybe Poland, or East Prussia, too)
