Have been trying to find the connection between the Sackville's and the Wests. There was talk of Lieut. Colonel William H. H. West 51 yrs. (1881 Census) Royal Marine Barracks, Chatham Kent,England married to an Ann M.S. West 52yrs. Birthplace, Grinstead, Sussex, England . William H. H. West (one of the "H"s stands for Harfield and his birthplace was said to be Teddington, Middlesex, England. They had three children at that time- Christopher Harfield West 20 yrs. Medical Student Guys Hospital, birthplace, Plymouth, Devon, England. He is my GGrandfather. Then Charles E.H. West 17yrs. scholar born, Liverpool,Lancashire, England and Florence West scholar 13yrs. born, Plymouth, Devon, England. I have heard that William was connected to the Sackville's somehow and there was talk of Knole Castle/Manor also. We have also heard that his wealth came from his wife's side and that he had also re-married. Not sure of the time frames, but we think that these children must be Ann M. S. West(?maiden name). Christopher West came to Canada in 1888 and joined the Northwest Mounted Police. He was a Physician with the Northwest Mounted Police and we have a death certificate that states that he died on Mayne Island B.C. Canada, Jan. 12, 1935. It stated that he was Major Christopher Harfield West in the B.C. Archives. Have been researching for a while now, but can't seem to make any connectins with the Sackville's yet also.
