Hi Ros, I might be of some help or rather you may be able to help me. My married name is Lindsay but my maiden name was Saddington. My father's name was Holmes Saddington as was his father's surname. Charles Henry Holmes Saddington came from Leicestershire, was married to Julia Askew in Peterbough in 1890.This is as far back as I can go. My line picked up "HOLMES" some where and added it to their surname. When I was christened Holmes was left off my Birth Certificate but my father's brother retained it and gave it to his three children. The two girls dropped Holmes when they married but the boy Charles Leslie retained his but dropped it when his son was born. All my Saddington relatives live in the South of Scotland and are hale and hearty. I emigrated to Australia with my family in 1958. Saddington is a reasonably common name in Australia mostly in the State of Victoria. I hope this long winded message may be useful. Please e-mail me if we are distantly related. Kind regards. Josephine (JO) Lindsay
