will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I am not researching this family, but have gathered some information for a friend who is a descendant. From the book by Peden on Montgomery County men in the Rev. War:
"Charles Saffell was a musician,Maryland Militia, who applied for a pension (S7442) in Montgomery County on March 23, 1833, aged 82, stating he enlisted on June 15, 1776, in Baltimore, Maryland, and served six months as a drummer in Col. Griffith's Maryland Regiment of the Flying Camp. He reenlisted immediately and served in the 7th Maryland Line until discharged in the fall of 1778. His father (name not given( died while he was in the service. Charles died on March 31, 1836." (There was further information here.)
