About 1867:       Moved to Watsonville, Santa Cruz Co., CA, by way of the Cape Horn sea route (a notice in the NY Times, 12 Oct. 1867, lists a “Mrs. L. E. Scruggs and two children” in addition to an “A.W. Rogers” and a “Mrs. L.E. Saffell and child” among the CA-bound passengers of the S.S. Henry Chauncey, which sailed from NY the day before; spouses may have been among the many other, unnamed passengers in second cabin and steerage)
