Dear Vicky and Nancy,
John and Hanna Safford did have a son named John Jr. I don't know what his date of birth was, however he married Abigail Martin on July 11, 1702. They also had a son named John and he was baptized July 16, 1711.
If you are interested in finding out more about this line, let me know. This John Safford, son of John and Hanna was my Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather.
There were many other John Safford's before these. The first, that I know of was living in Ipswich Mass. in 1630 and there was also a Thomas Safford in Ipswich in 1630. One or both of them probably came over from England on the Ship "Fortune" in 1629. I do have more information about the early Safford's in New England, and don't doubt the one your looking for is in there somewhere.
