Greetings, I'm fairly new to this forum, and can hopefully over time assist the rest of you as well as finding out some things myself. Something I have been seeking for nearly two decades is the real Safford Family Crest. To date, the most authentic one I've been able to find has been a gules lion salient bailloné mound gules, above a shield blazon argent on trois per fess wavy gules. (basicaly, a leaping lion with an orb in it's mouth, over a shield with three wavy red lines, but I wanted to let you know I really have been at work to find this kind of thing out). For those more educated in heraldry than myself, please excuse any mistakes, the paper on which I found this gave no line description of it. This is the problem. I found it among my grandmother's things many years ago, and in trying to find more about it, I've only found multiple different coats of arms that claim to be -The- Safford coats of arms. This leads me to many questions: 1.) Are there multiple coats of arms for the various Saffords? 2.) Is there a -reliable- web site, book, or researcher that can list and show the coats of arms, whom they belonged to, and when they came into being? 3.) If there is an oldest known Safford coat of arms, could someone direct me to it? -B Notify Administrator about this message?
