I was looking over the research that Julie had graciously posted and had a question I thought you may be able to answer. I am looking for the parents of Desire Safford, b. abt. 1642 in Stonington,New London, CT, d. 27 Aug 1796 in Voluntown, Windham, CT, wife of Bailey Crandall.

When looking over the 1790 Census, I found a Mary Safford residing in Voluntown, Windham, CT. In the 1800 Census, I found Bailey Crandall living in or near the same residence Mary Safford lived in 1790 so I think there may be a connection. Mary Safford was not listed in 1800 Census in this township and Bailey was not listed in this township in the 1790 Census.

The families of William, Jabez, and Lydia Gallop, Benjamin Corning, Elijah Palmer, Joseph Palmer, Simon Stephens, William Douglas, Reserved Pierce, and John Coon were in both censuses surrounding each of the subjects.

Bailey Crandall, husband of Desire Safford, married 2nd Hannah Newton. In 1800, Bailey's neighbors were Amos, Jabez and Nathan Newton which I assume they may have been relatives of his wife Hannah.
