Dear Karen

It's been quite awhile since I worked on the older Saffords.

However, there were two different lines. Because they both came from the Ipswich area, both arrived within 10 years of each other to Connecticut and other considerations I believe them to be related.

One John Safford moved with his wife Hannah to Preston Ct. Apparently Hannah died and he remarried. He is buried in Preston, Ct.

The other John Safford, married to Abigail Martin moved to Norwich, Ct. not too far away. He is buried in the Ames Cemetery in a little town called Lisbon not far from Norwich. His wife is buried by his side.

I am not acquainted with any of the names you wrote down in your letter.

My John had a son named Joseph as did the other John. My Joseph was born in Norwich in 1741.

Joseph and his family moved to Bennington, Vt. Son Joseph was born in Bennington circa 1783 and his son Joseph was born there in 1810.

I believe the other Saffords moved to the New York area.

Nancy Lee
