I appear to be having problems with writing and sending these messages. I was in the middle of one and something happened so I will try again. You might be receiving two.
The Ames Cemetery has Captain John Safford and wive Lydia as being buried there.
Perhaps if you were to contact the Norwich Town Hall they might have information as to where she was born. I'm thinking that it't likely she was born in New York or Mass.
A few years ago I contacted the Dept of Public Works. they have information on the Ames Cemetery. Their number is/was 860-823-3798.
These numbers I didn't call but maybe someone could help you. The Norwich Municipal Historian's number is/was 860-887-8737 and the New London County Historical Society's number is/was 860-443-1209.
