Dear Shirley;
I show a John William Said (b. 4 Mar 1888, d. 2 jul 1962, Pendleton Co., KY)married Ora Bell Purdy 7 Nov 1914,at Morgan, Pendleton Co., KY. I have him as the son of James Nathan Said, Jr., and Sarah Ann Martin, but no solid documentation on that.
A Mary Ashcraft married abt. 1845,another James Said, Jr. (b. 1826, Pendleton Co., KY; d. 1886, Falmouth, Pendleton Co., KY). This James Said, Jr. was a younger brother of my great-grandmother Sarah Ann Said (b. 1828, Pendleton Co., KY; d. before 1872). Sarah Ann Said married February 11, 1850, in Pendleton Co., KY, James Thomas Ashcraft (b. abt 1829, Grant Co., KY; d. bef. 1870).
Their daughter Sarah Ann Ashcraft (1861, 1944)married John Frederick Beaver (1859,1921) (my grandparents).
I would be interested in as much detail as you can give me on your Said family members; and I will share what I have. I do have ancestors and related lines going back into the 1600's, and a few in the 1500's.
Sir Edmond Halley, Astronomer Royal, is a 1st cousin (many generations removed) of most Saids, if not all, in the United States.
This was well proven around 1900 by a famous genealogical researcher of the time - I have the supporting research.
