No problem to send you a copy of the Salazar crest. Most branches of the family employ the one with 13 gold stars which dates from the 13th C. Prior to this the 'arma antica' of the Salazars is a siver castle on a field of green. The Salazars were Lords of the Salazar Towers, (signore delle torre Salazar)hence the symbol of the tower. The family were obsessed with building castles and towers. Before 1296 they had built over 37 in the Castille region of Spain. The principal seat of the family from this period is at Sommorostro just to the west of Bilbao. You can still visit this castle today. If you like I can send you a picture of the arma antica as well. The town of Salazar just to the west of Medina de Poma is apparently filled with Salazar ruins.
I am currently engaged on a long term project of writing the illustrated history of the Salazar family. I have over 100 antique books on this very subject. Whilst I have a vast quantity of information concerning the early Salazars from the 8th to the 17th century in Europe I have very little information on the Florida branch and how they came to this part of the States.Do you know anyone who could get access to the Florida state archives to see when the first Salazar arrived there-presumably sometime in the early 18th C, possibly earlier? My E-mail address is email@example.com.
I shall have to send you the pics by snail mail as my scanner is not working. I would of course credit anyone with a mention in 'the history of the Salazar family'for any research or information they would be willing to pass on. I shall also send you a photograph and a copy of a 17th print of the Salazar monument and tomb in Sens cathedral.
P.S I shall soon be taking a mould of the Salazar crest carved in stone, which my father owns. If you would like a cast for your house do let me know. It measures 18inches by 12 by 3 deep. I would of course have to charge you for that. I am not sure just yet how much it is going to cost,. probably about £ 50.00 sterling or thereabouts.
