jen, i see you have not received a response to the origin of the name salazar. This might help you out. The surname Salazar can be found in all Spanish, Latin America, Portugal and Europe. Julio Rancel has done an extensive researc on the Salazar Ancestors. the oldest line he knows begins in the 9th century, when Martin Galindez de Salazar founded in the year 844 the fortified manor of Manor of Quintana de Martin in the Torbalina valley (Providence of burgos, in the Castille-Leon, close to the Basque Country of Spain. According to his research the Lordship of Quintana de Martin Galindez was preserved as the reference for the main or first -born line. The family tree is very impressive. Go to his web site (Julio Rancel it is very lenthly. Good luck My dad came from santa Maria del Rio San Luis Potosi Mexico and I have some old documentation, birth certificates, death certificates dating back to 1873, also the names and spouse of those born in Villa de reyes and Santa maria del rio. I am slowly working on the connection. goodf luck and stay in touch.
