I will work back for you.
My Grandfather Worthy Vernon SELWAY was born 1892 Compton Dundon,Somerset and along with another young farmer emmigrated to Australia in 1912.
His father is the worthy SALWAYthat you have noted on the 1881 census along with his uncle Fred, grandparents John and Harriet and g/grandfather John. Ann Rowley was a servant.
As you can see our family name has changed from SALWAY to SELWAY.
On their 1887 marriage certificate my g/grandparents names are Worthy SELWAY and Emily Jane Hill. His father is listed as John SELWAY.
My SELWAY cousins who live around Taunton Somerset are cousins to the SALWAYS that live around Fivehead, Somerset.
CONFUSED? well heres another poser. My g/grandfather Worthy Selway had a half brother also called Worthy Selway who married Emily Jane Hill's half sister Ellen about 1876.
My g/grandfather Worthy Selway of Gales Farm, Gurneyslade,Somersetshire died 20 April 1920 His brother Worthy Selway of Knapp, North Curry, Somersetshire died 11 April 1920 at Gales Farm, Gurneyslade, Somersetshire of a blot clot while on a visit
John SALWAY b c1792 I know little about however I will be back in Somerset next May for 6 weeks to do nothing but family history. One of my cousins is interested as well.
Getting back to Benjamin and Dinah, as you know one of their sons,Robert emmigrated to Brisbane. He had 8 children, among them twin boys Abel and Charles.
Abel(aka Edward) b 14 Jan 1875 d 17 Oct 1927 married 3 June 1903 Suzannah Krome b 2 June 1884 d 18 May 1987. They had a daughter May Beatrice Salway b 12 June 1904.
THIS IS MY DOUBLE LINK
My mother Daphne Selway married Peter Noel Furness
May Beatrice Salway married Leonard James Furness.
Peter and Leonard are cousins
Daphne and May could be related as well?????
May, the only one alive, is a spritely 96 year old who is very interested in all this.
I know this is all very long winded. I am doing it in instalments so that you can hopefully take it all in.
I am keen to find links and also know why my grandfather and g/grandfather carried the christian name Worthy.
