Joseph G. Samuels married Martha Anne "Mattie" Hamrick on Oct. 3, 1872 in Shenandoah County, VA. Mattie was the daughter of Samuel Henry Hamrick and Sarah Elizabeth Priest (I am researching the Priest family).
Found them on the 1900 census under Shenandoah Iron Works District, Page County, the report is hard to read because it is partially blacked out. Joseph is listed as born in Oct. of 1835 and Martha in Sept. 1838 (another source says Dec. 12, 1831 in Rappahannock County). They had one child who is deceased. On the same census page are listed 3 Eppard families living next door to each other and 2 Seal families also living next door to each other. I assume Joseph is related to the Eppard and Seal families.
Hope someone can identify Joseph's parents and can give me some information about the marriage of Joseph and Mattie.
