I have been researching my family history and have found that several of my 5th cousins (The Devers from Missouri, originally Kentucky)were Quantrill Guerrillas during the Civil War. One rode with the James gang after the war. After one of the bank robberies, he went to Nelson County (a place called Samuel's Depot). Apparently, there was a sheriff Samuels (possibly related to Jesse James' step Father Reuben Samuels) who helped hide gang members from Missouri officials. Do you have any information on this? Any relation to your Samuels? I'd be happy to share what information I have on this with you. Thanks.
