It is actually spelled "Meshack" Samuels and Elizabeth Noland was his first wife. She died after giving birth to William Samuels. Meshack came across the mountain into Orange County where he married Zachariah Taylor's daughter, Lucretia, and had sons Joseph William Taylor Samuels (my great grandfather) b. 1825 and Meshack, Jr. It has been my understanding that these were the only children. Have I missed a child?
